Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

NYC, Flatiron District. Established in 1892 and originally called Viemeister's. During prohibition it was a speakeasy known as Craig'ls Restaurant, then renamed the Old Town in 1933. It features many original fixtures - a 55 foot mahogany and marble bar, tin ceiling, antique cash registers, wooden booths , and the oldest working dumbwaiter in the city. Another notable feature are the floor length 1910 Hinsdale urinals in the first floor men's room (the ladies room is on the second floor, as in the old days only men were allowed on the first floor). And behind the bar is a weathered old glass pane labeled "The Picture of Dorian Gray".
The Old Town is also a writers bar, with famous patrons including Frank McCourt (Angela's Ashes), Billy Collins, Jim Dwyer, Pete Hamill, and poet Seamus Heaney. It has also appeared in numerous television shows including Sex in the City, Mad About You, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and the opening montage of Late Night With David Letterman.
I enjoyed a delicious IPA from Fiddlehead Brewing in Shelburne VT.
